Question 240D transmission slippage

I recently had a remanufactured engine from MB installed. The auto trans now slips between gears, whereas with the old engine which lasted 375,000 miles it worked fine. The trans has 175,000 miles on it. My mechanic calls it transmission "flare" and says it is worn out & needs replacement. The accelerator kick-down shift switch no longer works either, but it did with the old engine. I'm told that the connections were hooked up correctly. Is there anything in the vacumn controls that my mechanic should check first? He told me that he initially had trouble with a blocked outlet for one of the lines running off the top of the valve cover black box, causing it to shift rapidly, and discovered the problem by comparing to an identical 240D in his shop. I can drive it ok by letting up on the pedal as it shifts from 2-3, and manually shifting from 3 to 4 to get adequate acceleration, with 4000 miles on the new engine so far.

You need to delete your post, go to the top of the forum and read the sticky post about Doing a search...then search for ' transmission flare' ...read them.. and then post a question if you still have any questions.... not a good start to participating on the forum.. fortunately the delete button will erase the evidence of your bad start....
