Driveshaft Disaster??
While pulling the engine on my "78" 240D I accidently suppurated the driveshaft *%%^#&, didn't have it pulled apart all the way at the flex coupling, I guess. What Now...Gurrrr.. I am thinking that I must find a driveshaft shop and have it balanced ? If that is the case could anyone recommend a shop in the PNW .

Well, not sure if the older ones were marked this way...
but you can try cleaning the mating ends of the shafts. Then look closely for a set of marks - one end might have two dots/arrows/notches while the mating end has a single mark. Line the marks up and you're good to go. Your results may vary

MB driveshafts are balanced by the half, and then balanced again assembled. Not sure exactly when, but driveshafts since sometime in the 80's have a V one one side of the spline joint and a | on the other. That marks how they go together. I have talked to some people who have NEVER checked driveshaft alignment and never claimed to have a balancing problem..maybe they are just lucky. If you don't have any new vibrations from the driveshaft, leave it alone....
