Please help.
The radiator blew and i have had it repaired. Now the problem is that the engine overheats quickly (5 mins.) The main hose into the radiator doesn't seem to get very hot. The aux. fan (in front of the radiator) doesn't come on. Is the fan clutch broken? Or is it worse? Can i fix the fan clutch? I'm hoping you can help me Benz brothers. |

I know this seems like a dumb question, but have you verified that the radiator was re-filled after the repair?
My father once had a similar suprise after getting an oil change, but the joke was on the dealer..... to the tune of $4100.00 for new motor! It was the first (3000 mi) oil change. If the hose is not getting warm, the coolant is not circulating... possible blockage or not full enough to circulate the fluid. Worth checking if you haven't yet. ------------------ William 76 240D - 550K miles 78 300D - 200K+ miles |

Assuming there is coolant in the system, your thermostat is probably not opening, which explains why the hose is cool and the fan doesn't activate - coolant is not circulating. Replace it; it is not expensive. Then see if the problem goes away.
Good Luck! Colin |
