Why don't you just take the front cover off? it takes some work but gives you a chance to replace lower rails and even the oil pump chain and it's rail also a good time to change belts and hoses.The way I think about all the work I do on my MB's is that there are really no better cars in the world,I plan to keep them so every hour of work and every dollar spent for parts just makes them that much better.They have become a real pleasure in my life.........
