300D Turbo rpm vs speed?
hi guys im interested in you guyss topspeed. @ which Rpm are you driving with which speed?
Especially the fact that you guys say that there is no 3.0 turbo diesel in the US is strange. There are more things for example here is an 300D turbo coupe!! Do you have these in Us ? http://zoek.autotrader.nl/cgi-bin/advert_detail.php?page_num=5&record_id=2172007&class=cars&pos=46&locale=atnl.cars.1&distance=&SearchID=8674e35facc97e90b77335efbe22f4a3&did=1001570 (sorry for my bad english)

i will post them later i dont have my camera now,
I was driving over 190km/h @ 4200RPM, the back of my car was full with suitcases and the rearseats were full too. The car was almost licking the ground and with that weight a could hit 220km/h with ease. Without the thing on the roof otherwise i could flY edit: engatwork has deleted his reply?

I think somewhere around 3000rpm. Some non-US cars may have a lower final drive ratio, allowing for higher speed at lower RPM.

sounds like mine, im running 13okm/h @ 3000 rpm exactly and @ 4300 RPm I was running over 190km/h
Before this car i had a 230E, but the acceleration of my turbo diesell is much faster as my previous car. Unbelievable the power it has. Last summer i was holding it behind a E270CDi 2003 he did get to the right lane(left is for speed) I won the race @ 200km/h. He was scared I could hit whit that weight in my car easyly 230

Top speed of mine is 137 mph, although I'll never see that. The last time I broke 100, it resulted in a $300 ticket.

Rick,
I can vouch for 130 mph. Adirondack Northway, last summer on my way to Wilsboro, NY to join the family at the in-laws place on Lake Champlain at about 2:00 a.m. with absolutely no traffic. Not as rock solid as the 190E 2.3-16 at that speed though. Just a little floaty but very quiet - mostly wind noise with a subdued engine roar. Still had a few hundred rpm left to redline, and with a longer straight or a downhill slope I might have seen a little more. But very impressive for a Diesel engine powered car as my 240D gets loud enough to cause hearing damage at 80 mph and needs about an hour to get from there to 82 mph on level ground. Jim

Good show, Jim! I've got you beat on the 240D, though. Mine regularly buries the 85 mph speedo on the one part of my commute that is "unpatrollable." Doesn't take long to get there, either.

Rick,
Not willing to concede the 240D performance yet. Mine has 195/70-14 tires, which are slightly larger diameter, giving me a 3%-5% lower speedo reading.......and a net higher final drive ratio. But burying the speedo needle in a 240D is a noble feat! Congratulations! Jim

So where is the intercooler located?
An intercooler is typically placed between the compressor outlet of the turbo and the air intake manifold. Looking at the pictures, I see the factory cast aluminum intake crossover (the part going over the valve cover) but not an intercooler. Does anyone see an intercooler in there? I’m not trying to cause a scene, just curious.
