is it a good idea to change out the switch over valves
Hello all,
Well my 87 300d is comming together. I finally can drive the #$*#) thing. I am trying to solve a slightly hard shifting tranny. It does better when cold with the help of the cold switch. I have just ordered the rubber cap for the modulator and will change the rubber to that when i get the cap. It holds pressure but bleeds it off slowly down to 0 after maybe a minute or so. I am going to see if the rubber cap has it hold tight. Also, it seems that my crossover valves are working. I did not clean them with any solvent as i read that will harm them. SHould I replace them if I can get them cheap enoug (BRO works for a dealer) In other words would it make a difference. do theses things get clogged or leak slowly. How often do they fail and do they fade out over time Also the boost pressure sensor ... How often do they fail. It seems to be running real good. I might test that be disabling it for a drive around the block... Any way I am learning alot about the w124. Here are some of my mess ups. Thermostat remove the turbo air hose. Make sure that the theromostat seats securly in the the cover. I broke two of those things. You can replace the IP gaskets without removing the pump (although it is not fun) The diode for the seats can be fixed for 50 cents. Radio shack. Have all the fuel line clips when removing the intake. Look at the diagram before putting on the serpenine belt. Should be a 5 minute job. That is all for now. I am happy that it finally runs well I need it to be perfect (I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT) thanks bob c |
