the car in question is an 83 240d. always starts without problem whether ambient temp is high or low. but the glow plug dash light does not always function. one day yes. one day no. this has been going on for some time. any suggestions on a remedy. thank you.

Start off by cleaning the contacts behind the bulb and perhaps a new bulb, odds are that'll take care of it.
