81' 300 SD Seat Switch - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Greetings,

The passenger door seat switch on my SD seems to have broken internally and needs to be replaced. I understand that a new one has to be converted to fit this particular year, through as the later ones had the seat position memory built in. I have also been quoted an obsene amount to have this conversion done. Any ideas would be appreciated. Fastlane sells a conversion kit but was also wondering what might be entailed

it might just be dirty inside. u can take it out and clean the contacts that are corroded.

I have an 83 300SD and have had this problem also. Make sure it is not dirty. The conversion kit is expensive. You will need to solder the connections. I hope this helps

Thanks everybody.....the switch seems to be broken internally. Just called Aurora Auto parts and got one that will actually fit an 81 300SD for $45. It apparenly came off an 81 with the conversion kit already built in.....the previous owner must have had his switch fail as well. Should have the new/old switch by wednesday evening.
