Closer to glow plug solution-small advice please?
Hello,
Thanks for the replies. I did search for previous threads, but what was concerning me most was the vibrating/ticking sound. Today I tried to start the car and it was OK except for the ticking sound and tach needle vibrations. I opened the hood and did it again and found the source to be a black box just ahead of the front driver side wheel well, a black box with a diagram on it. You guys are probably like-this guy is an idiot. Thats the ______. But, I don't know what it is. What is it? I'll disconnect/clean it. I'm assuming its the relay. Whatever it is it has problems. Sorry to troll up the board if the additional post is excessive. Thanks, -O. |

Orkrist,
That's the GP relay. It should click on when you turn key to run position and stay on (energizes GP) for about 40 seconds unless you energize the starter which will cause it to shut off . It also controls the in dash GP indicator light. When the GP relay is on, check that you have ~12 volts at the GP. If it clicks on and off, something is wrong somewhere. If engine starts easily the GP relay is probably working correctly and the GP dash light may not be working. P E H |
