Seat Switch Problems

Problem with 85 300sd seat switches. Have read the threads but did not find an answer. Here goes...

Driver seat - Power head rest no longer works, reclining back no longer works. Seat does go up and down.

Passenger seat - seat does not ravel forwards or backwards, up or down. However the power hear rest and back reclining function works OK

Any thoughts?

Give the switches a cleaning with Caig Deoxit, available at many electronic supply stores. Pull the switch handles straight out (very difficult on all my cars) and spray into the switch. That usually does it.

If that doesn't do it for the power headrest, repost and I'll walk you through checking the lifter clamp that holds one of the headrest posts. Both sides were shot in my SDL.

I like the switch cleaning tip...but...

I have the same problem with my pass seat - almost.

For the front to rear seat adjustment, when i move the switch from front to back, i can hear the seat motor running, but the seat doesnt move. Its stuck in the rear-most position. It does go up and down, and the back tilt works. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

I like the cleaning tip and will try tonite when I get back.

However a number of threads talk about hearing the seat motor but there is no movement. When I try a function that doesn't work in either seat, there is no sound at all, let alone movement.

Am hoping that cleaning the switch as suggested will do the trick.
