Performance products does not have the interior wood trim pieces for a 123 car. I just called them looking for some pieces myself. They do carry the wood trim pieces for newer models. If you find someone else that carries them, please let me know too.

Thanks,

Scott

Eh, how about the dealer? FastLane should be able to get dealer items at a discount, if not, try Rusty (800-741-5252). Those items are NOT available in the aftermarket. Your other option is to buy used, but they're often faded & cracked just like your old ones probably are...

Try a wrecking yard, you should be able to find some trim that is in good condition. New trim is very expen$$ive.

You asked for a supplier, but you didn't say a cheap one. This company advertises in "The Star" all the time. If they don't have a replacement, they will certainly be able to restore the parts you already have.

Rick, is the Jetta TDI any good? Reliable? thinking of getting one for the wife but if it's no better than a regular VW I'll just get her an old 123.

Might want to ask Brian T about the VW TDI... he owned two late model ones, and from what I understand couldn't get rid of them fast enough. He seems to be partial to the 124 & 201 chassis, as I am (the 123 chassis really gets annoying to work on after you've spent any time on a 124/201).

In defense of the TDI, I will say that they get better MPG than any other diesel vehicle sold in the USA, AFAIK... 40-45 is common, and 50+ is possible with a really light foot. And with a chip they're pretty fast. Not bad engines overall but the chassis leaves a little to be desired. My BIL's sister has a Passat TDI (with a chip) and they love it, although it seems to have an endless string of little annoying problems. They want it for the high MPG more than anything else though (plus they're in CA and it's smog exempt!)

Regards,

TDI vs. W123

gsxr covered a lot of it, but I do have a few other thoughts. However I would like avoid hijacking marketwize2003's thread. At least until he reports back and says the wood is taken care of. So I'll start another thread about TDI vs. W123.
