Diesel Purge - Fuel Filter
Does anyone know if it is alright to run on full strength Diesel Purge or Stanadyne for a brief time. When I change my spin on fuel filter I would like to pour straight D.P. or Stan. into the new fuel filter to almost fill it up since my SDL doesn't have a manual pump. Thus I wouldn't have to crank the engine so much. And, no, I don't want to dump unfiltered fuel into the filter. In my 29 years around truck diesels, I know that the unfiltered fuel can sometimes screw up the injector tips. Also, D.P. or Stan. would clean the injectors. Anyone see a down side to this?

Bill, thank you for your comments.
However, I'm really not looking for the full benefits of Diesel Purge but, rather a convenient way to fill the filter (like from a small bottle or can) with something other than unfiltered fuel. You bring up a good point, though. Maybe I should just use a fuel conditioner.

Some people fill the filter with ATF. Should be cheaper than Purge.

I've read that ATF "cokes" up the combustion chamber. Anyway, you must take care of that Atomic 4. I have not seen one of those in a boat in years. I'm running twin 4 cyl. diesels in a stink pot and get almost as good fuel mpg as your sailboat .(displacement hull)
