Mighty Vac KAPUT!
I have had this mighty vac for a few weeks. It has seen very little use. It no longer holds vac. Has anyone else busted one of these things?

mccan,
I bought a might vac last spring from a pep boys franchise. When I got home and opened the package, I noticed that one of the two tiny screws holding one of the end caps on was missing. the pep boys was too far away to just pop back for a quick little exchange visit, so I called the mighty vac company itself. They sent me a repair kit that included the needed screw. Maybe a call to them would be in order. I don't have the phone number handy, but a google search would turn it up. good luck, Dan |

Well that's a good lesson for us all: Test your Mity-Vac before using. It's easier than replacing all your damper motor diaphrams!!

The same thing happend to my Mity-Vac, I returned it to Auto Zone and after about a week the same thing happened. I determined that crud could build up between the check valve & the pump body. Not hardly any, but a few grains, just enough. It is very easy to clean the orange rubber valve, and to keep it from happening again I installed a cigarette filter in the clear tube and connect the tubing dowstream. Now I havent had any more problems.

After disassembling, cleaning and reassembling the top end of the vacuum pump, it occured to me that perhaps I might challenge myself with a look inside the mighty vac. Oil on the plunger. Cleaned it. Works great. So does vac. pump.
