Sorry Tank, but you just cannot do that.

I have one of those "big ass" 3/4 ton Dodge trucks. It was the ONLY way I could get a diesel pickup. 99.9% of the time, I don't need the capacity of my truck. During the .1% that I do, I'm damn glad to have it. When I bought the truck, it was that truck and an already old Suzuki Samurai as my choice of vehicles. The Samurai did not have A/C. Guess which vehicle was driven daily since I live in TX. Only recently has it been set aside as a secondary vehicle.

Instead of trying to ban the truck, people need to learn how to drive. Requiring driver training as some other countries do would be a nice start.

I agree completely with Diesel Power. While there is a growing amount of people who buy these big trucks 'cause they want 'em, there is still a sizeable group of people who are buying these trucks because we need them. I need a truck the size of my F-250. Sometimes I wish it were an F-350 dualie, to be blunt, althugh it has never been too little truck for what I've needed to do with it. I was driivng it, along with a 1 ton diesel van, before selling the van to get the Benz. Since then, the truck has only really been driven when I've needed to, or when I wanna play with the clutch.

Keep on truckin'

Unhappy

Last year my '77 240D 4-spd got totalled by an 80+ old man driving a '97 Mercury Marquis. The wife was driving it at the time. The old man pulled out of a strip mall right into oncoming traffic. The wife didn't have enough time to stop and slammed him. The 240D only had 118k on the odometer. The body was good.
State Farm didn't want to sell me back the car. They gave me a total of $3400.00 for it. For that price, I'll let them have it. However, I did give the adjuster a hard time. He started his offer at $700. I faxed him NADA and Blue Book prices for the car. He finally gave in after I told him that if he could go with me to look at some other 240Ds that were comparable to mine for what he was offering, I'd let him by me another car or fix mine up with orogonal MB parts. His insured, the old man, was at fault and was cited.
Here is a pic of the 240D:

Talking

Nope. I tapped into the family savings account and bought my dream benz.. '87 300 SDL. Love it. So does the wife.
But since I also enjoy the W123 MB body, I found a '80 300TD wagon to fix up for the wife. You can't lose with a W123 MB. Solid as a tank. Just like the W126.

Talking All Better!

I got the 240D back this week!
YEEEHAAAAAA!

Man, did they do a sweeet job on the repair and repaint.
They even took out a couple of dents from the trunk lid that were there before I bought the car. They could not (or did not want to) find a used bumper so they put a brand spankin new one on there. and a brand new taillight as well.
(didn't cost me ANYTHING!)

I can honestly say that you cannot tell it was hit and it looks even better than before the accident.

State Farm insurance, Northwest Collision CarStar (in Sparta, MI):

THANK YOU!
