95 e300d air in fuel lines

I have a 95 e300d that is getting air in the fuel lines. I am replacing these lines and or rings one at a time, but it seems like they are all leaking at once and no problems before. It also looks like the delivery valves are leaking slightly too. Would a bad lift pump allow fuel to drain back to tank and suck air into the lines in a bunch of different places all at once? I suppose I should replace this part since it has 331k on it. Is the readily available Bosch one ok? Thanks!

The whole fuel injection pump is made by Bosch so of course a Bosch replacement lift pump would work. There is an ID plate on the lift pump that has the part and model numbers on it.

Thanks! I think I am going to do the fuel lines one at a time and see if that solves it, because they are so old anyway. Then the valve on top of the filter, and if that doesn't do it, the lift pump. It is freezing here, so it is going to take me a while, luckily have another car to drive for now.

Since the fuel is pulled from the tank, the logical place to look for leaks is the fuel line from the tank.
I put a leaf blower or shop vac set to blow into the fuel tank and look on the line for seeping fuel.

Wow, that's a cool idea. I have replaced the rubber one from the firewall to the fuel thermostat, it was leaking when I bought the car...but from there there are so many possibilities for air entry that it is difficult. I'll try that with a shop vac and see what happens.
