Mix Gallon of Vegetable Oil or gallon of peanut oil with #2 diesel?

1984 300D turbo. I'm thinking of mixing a gallon of peanut oil in the tank when I fill up with #2 diesel fuel. Would a gallon of vegetable oil be a better choice?

I have burned 1,000s of gallons of WVO which was most likely peanut oil. I would go with the peanuts

The U. Of Indiana had a reported study on the net discussing the pro’s and con’s of different types of oil. I would look for that if it’s still discoverable

I don't know the answer to this. You might want to post this in the Alternative Fuels subforum, if you haven't already.

It depends.

What is the reason you want to do this?

Lubricant? Fuel economy?

To see if it will work?

IIRC, I saw someone on youtube putting a gallon vegetable oil in the tank of an OM617 prior to filling up with #2 diesel. He said it cut down on the soot/black smoke problem considerably.

Any oil would increase lubrication of diesel. 1 or 2 gallons in a full tank wouldn't hurt. Your car can run on 100% veggie oil if you chose to. I wouldn't worry about it. The engine would run quieter, may be imagination, may be not.
