W123 Sun Visor Swap
Like most, the sun visors in my 1985 CA 300D were poor. The inset hard plastic frame which secures the mirror lid cracked at the pivot, allowing the lid to flop. Might be more a problem in hot regions like mine. The vinyl covers covering had also shrunk and tore at the edges. I have seen on only used visors at ridiculous prices. Instead, I decided to try one from another car.
Based on vehicles in my stable, it appeared one from Chrysler minivan might work, since only 2 mounting holes at the pivot, which were about the right distance. I grabbed a pair last time at the salvage yard. Was years ago so forgot exactly, but I think ~1996 since the visors in my 2002 are different (pull-out extension). The photos tell most of the story, so I'll be brief. I removed the front headliner. First, unscrew the stainless strip under the front sunroof since it secures a strip of hanging vinyl. See the photo of the two side clips. You slide it forward towards the windshield to free the clip fingers. The vinyl cover had shrunk and the glue failed in places so I pulled it all the way off and resecured with spray adhesive plus E6000 at the edges. I couldn't get it to fit fully in the visor cavities and still have enough to cover the edges. It was also too shrunk to pull the sides over in the same place the factory did, so a fussy job. I ran a pair of wires to the lamp wires which come thru the shaft of the new visors. I had grabbed the mating plug. +12 V taps off the dome lamp with a single 57 terminal (used on 1960's GM, Mopar, and modern appliances). A ground screw is behind the dome lamp. I used the intermediate oblong hole to help fish a pulling wire thru. You can remove the factory harness which passes the lamp connection thru 2 contacts on the outer visor clip. The photo shows it hanging w/ the new wiring. I had to bend the arm of the new visor so it could swing over to the side window. Note that the arm on the M-B visor is tilted relative to the base to allow that. I added ~1/4" spacer at the front hole to similarly tilt the new base. I had to drill a new hole for the outer clip. Insure you don't drill thru to the top and the screw isn't so long as to dent the top. I had to add ~3/8" spacers under the outer clip to move it down so the new visor didn't drag on the headliner. I used thick rubber sheet, punching out 3 washers for each spacer. I saved the old visors and wiring in case a company ever makes a refurb kit. Note that the vanity lamp is powered with the key out, so insure wifey doesn't leave the cover flipped open when parking. Same deal with the OE lamp. I wanted to change to LED bulbs, but couldn't figure how to remove the Chrysler bulbs.

That’s a pretty novel idea.
I have cream colored replacements in my dark blue interior car because that’s what I found at the JY. I tried a w124 blind but it didn’t fit. There used to be replacements made in Turkey.
