bell housing compatibility
saw a transmission for sale near me today at a reasonable price. the only issue is that it came out of a "1969 Mercedes Benz 280SE 4Dr Sedan, w/6 cylinder engine".
It has a number on the bell housing: 115-251-13-01 but I have not been able to determine if this will bolt to an OM616/617. can anyone tell me yes or no? |

Looks like the answer is "yes". I have a loose bell housing that came on a transmission I bought for a W115 diesel with OM616 years ago. The number on it = R115-251-13-01.
I also looked in the spare parts list. The 115-251-13-01 is shown as being original in 220D with OM615 and also 220 with M115, and this number was "replaced by" several others which were installed in cars including 240D with OM616. It is associated with manual shift gear boxes.

Years ago I bought a printed Spare Parts List for W115 cars, the book that a dealer would have had at the parts counter. They come up on the 'Bay occasionally.
