Emissions test says - EGR System: Not Completed - (on an OM606 Engine)
What can I do to get it to complete?
Alternatively as a last resort, is there a hack to trick or reflash the computer to think it's tested? I've absolutely had it after getting it inspected 3 times now, driving it in multiple scenarios, and letting it idle in hopes the self test will occur yet it never does... and to top it off, doing all this without plates/registration. I can't register unless I drive it more. A catch 22 I'm tired of being in. It doesn't say failed... just 'Not Completed'. UPDATE: Drove more and tested at O-Reilly's (their tester reads and clears emissions info on this car). Still not ready. Drove more and tested again... this time with the Harbor Freight Zurich ZR4 tester ($39.99 and surprisingly it works!) and readiness for EGR system now complete. NOTE!! Do NOT clear codes... it will make the car run the Readiness monitors again which takes time.

That's frustrating. I would ask some of the tuners out there if there's anything they can think of. To tune that ECU you have to remove it and replace some chips...i.e. can't be done from OBD2 port.

Where are you located? In california you can take it to a referee station to have them pass it. A lot of cars fail due to incomplete readiness monitors and it's no fault of the owner. They've compiled a list of vehicles that habitually fail.
https://www.bar.ca.gov/Industry/Industry_Resources/On-Board_Diagnostic_Test_Reference.aspx#table-4-ois-vehicles-of-interest This type of BS is the reason I bought a NA 97 instead of a 98 or 99 turbo.

Not sure if they do that in Missouri.

You basically have to go down the drive cycle check list or get a Sanchez smog. I had to do that on my 202. Was driving down the hwy at 35mph, at specified rpm.. engine temps,, loads solely to trigger the things. It’s really gay. Took the whole day but got everything completed just to get a smog certificate

Ok this is what I found in another thread:
Begin with a clod engine, or a COLD engine. 1. Idle 20 secs.Acel gradually and drive at 20-25 mph for 1 min. vary speed. 2. Drive at 25-31 mph for 35 secs. Decel to 0mph in 10 secs. Idle 40 secs. 3. Acel moderately. Drive at 20-25 mph for 20 secs. Increase speed to 40-55 for 85 secs. then decel to 0mph in 50 secs. Idle 15 secs. 4. Acel to 36 mph in 35 secs. Decel to 0 in 15 secs. Idle 10 ssecs. 5. Acel to 30 mph and decel to 0 over a 25 sec. period. Idle 20 secs. 6. Acel to 36 in 20 secs. Drive at 35 for 20 secs. Decel to 0 in 15 secs. Idle 5 secs. 7. Acel to 26mph and decel to 0 in 40 seecs. Idle 15 secs. 8. Acel to 27 in 40 seecs. Decel to 0 in 8 secs. Idle 25 secs. 9. Acel to 26 and decel to 0 in 35 secs. idle 15 secs. 10. Drive in stop and go traffic for 1 min. Reaching 25-30 mph 2 times, with no complete stops. 11. Drive at 20-30 for 2 min. and stop. Vary speed. Drive at 20-28 mph for 2 1/2 min. at varying speeds. Stop. Idle for 30 secs. 12. Acel to 28 and back to 0 in 50 secs. Acel to 20 in 10 seces. drive at 20-27 mph for 20 secs. and decel to 0 in 10 secs. Idle 15 secs. 13. Acel to 23 and back to 0 in 20 secs. Idle 10 secs. Accell to 22 mph and back to 0 in 45 secs. Idle 10 secs. 14. Acel to 25 in 30 secs. Drive at 23-28 mph for 25 secs. Decel to 0 on less than 10 secs. 15. Idle 25 scs. Acel to 22 mph and back to 0 in 30 secs. Do this 2 times, oh the joy! This is hard to believe if this is really how it's done. It must be possible to do this only on a load roller. I'm going to try to do it on jack stands.

Doesn’t work on jacks. Has to happen organically. Unless you caN simulate the Load or know anyone with a dyno

I wouldn't try going through that list in order on public roads with traffic. I have no other viable option besides stands.

You should be able to get temporary transport tags. You can here in VA anyways. $5 for a 3-day temp tag with no inspection or emissions requirements. The purpose is for allowing test drives, and for relocating a drivable vehicle that is unregistered. Should allow you to legally run some errands and drive around until the OBD readiness gets set.

In NY uninsured operation is the big no-no with lots of fines growing daily from the lapse of insurance. I've been advised by someone who's done it, driving w/ no plates (unregistered m/v) is preferable from driving with say, the plates from your other car (fraudulent misuse of plates). Either way not a bad ticket as they go. Assuming your appearance/circumstance etc. can withstand a little attention from the police and maybe a ticket, put insurance on it and take the title along with you? Of course your mileage may vary and this is not legal advice, etc. You could also get towed and impounded, which is probably a bigger problem than you have.
