W210 Battery Charge Light Beep
1996 E300 has started beeping and flashing BATTERY CHARGE with a beep every few seconds. Drove all day fine in the heat and hills then after a hot start the flashing warning and beeping began.
No code showing up. NAPA tester could not test alternator load. tried it at the post in the engine bay and at the battery. Battery tested good - 2yr old Bosch Alternator $170~+shipping $20 at NAPA Bosch or Valeo $249.25 at Pelican Too many vehicle chores lately. Need guidance. Thanks in advance. |

Voltage meter test
Test with a meter at the battery shows:
12 volts before start > hard start > 10 volts running. Christmas Tree of flashing warning lights. Is it worth changing the voltage regulator? THe Alternator is a Bosch 90Amp, will either it or the Valeo work? Are they interchangeable? Is there an upgrade that can be done at this point? |

Voltage Regulator is $14 on Pelican but they are out of stock and no longer being manufactured.
Prices for the regulator vary from $68-$275 Most parts stores sell the regulator for more than a rebuilt alternator with a regulator. I bought a rebuilt Bosch from O'Reilly's $162.95 no shipping $35 core charge. |
