Nothing was cleaned so would it still be possible to reset?

Sure, that is how you start trouble shooting. Clear them and see what comes back first. Just because code tells you something does not mean that is exact issue.
I'd be surprised if MAF sensor needed to be replaced.

I might automatically add the possibility of an issue with the pollution matrix. Too much ash buildup would inhibit enough new air getting into the cylinders. So poor combustion of the fuel. Makes smoke.
I suspect dealers can establish the amount of ash buildup. After a super regeneration if needed. That pollution control system on modern diesels does unfortunately cause problems. I am only suggesting this as a possibility. We expect to have issues with the wives diesel Passat. With this system at some point. The modern diesel is great otherwise in most ways. If Volkswagon just had an indicator of when regeneration is taking place. When the frequency of the regeneration is too often would let us know. That the ash level is unacceptable. |

That is right. A good analyzer will give you miles since last generation. If Tom only drove on interstate at 80+ for hours at a time it would probably be a non issue. These cars are not much for short, city trips.

Or engine swap the 617 into the one that is a smoker! Problem solved.

The NOX sensor error is failed nox sensors. I had that happen back in January. You can typically plan on a pair of them every 85-100k. Dealer didn't charge me any labor (nearly 4 hours and they have to be SCN coded to the car to work) but the sensors are over $600 apiece. Cleaning them is rarely successful. They simply get dirty and wear out like an O2 sensor does on a gasser.
The mass airflow one you might be able to get away with cleaning. I also don't think the part is nearly as costly as the Nox sensors....not sure if it has to be SCN coded though. The blue exhaust plus nox failure makes me think your DPF is probably well toasted and failing/failed...its got 27k more miles on it than mine did when it failed. Sounds like this vehicle needs a thorough inspection by the dealer as neglecting the exhaust system can just steadily destroy each piece of it. Even with the repairs I've done I'm still well ahead in overall costs vs if I had kept driving my 420SEL that it replaced...and thats in fuel alone....GLK gets about 2-2.5x the economy on significantly cheaper fuel.

The NOx sensor wouldn't have anything to do with smoking except the smoke may have ruined one or both sensors.
If the mass air sensor is faulty, perhaps this results in a rich mixture? But surely these engines must have controls to correct mixture? Maybe they do, but there could still be excess soot that has to be burned off? Anyway, I doubt there is any quick fix for these problems. I suspect you will just have to bite the bullet and get it to a dealer. It will likely be expensive. After it is running properly it will be easier to sell. Otherwise it will need someone who can "tune" it - (euphemism for gutting the bluetec system as some have apparently done here in Canada) We sold our GLK250 before these kind of emission problems arose. Too bad really, because it is otherwise a great vehicle.

I read in a new thread here this morning about a settlement for all these mb diesels, so it looks like I can get the hardware updated and some cash for thinking i was buying an environmentally responsible smoker.
I have put in adblue in twice in the last two weeks, and today the add adblue light came on again....fun in river city!

Will be interesting to see what type of settlement US owners get.
