1979 300D 0 to 60 video run.
My low mileage (86,000 miles) 300D just had rebuilt injectors, IP timed, valve adjustment and new fluids and filters. In other words it's as good as it's going to get with me owning it.
I though for fun I'd video a 0 to 60 run on a more or less flat road near my home. Slight cross head wind at 8 mph. My GPS says despite oversized tires (207/75/14) 62 shown on the speedometer is actually 60 mph. 18.5 seconds is what I recorded but it felt a lot more like 18 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJh2bx2Jk_4&feature=youtu.be Tim |

Uh, bad news but my 240D does it in under 20 seconds.
Let’s run ‘em!

I gonna use my GPS Race Timer app on the 240D tomorrow, LOL.
The only time I timed it I used a stop watch, old school car old school technology. I worked at an exotic grey market car dealer in the 80’s. I put a stop watch on a then new 1982 240D euro 4spd, my memory says that car took something well over 20 seconds 0-60. All the salesman took turns driving that car, we couldn’t stop laughing at the glory of it’s snail like acceleration. Maybe the euro model had taller rear end gearing than the US model?

The results are in at 23.9 0-60mph, with the same laughable fact that the quarter mile was a second quicker at 22.9 at 59mph. We ran it twice!
Okay, completely full tank of diesel and my 17yo daughter in the car to slow things down. I’m pretty sure I wrung everything I could get out of the old girl.

I’m in Orange County, sounds like your 240D would smoke mine! 😂

I'm in north Orange County, in Anaheim/Buena Park. We should do an OC meetup.
