Rear CV axle boots are shot. 1984 300CD automatic
Is there an easy way to replace the boots before damage is done to the CV joints? So far they are performing perfectly.
If not, who is a good quality supplier of the whole joint? |

You can reboot them yourself but it isn't easy in my opinion unless you have a pneumatic boot stretcher. Contact CVJ axles and ask them about redoing your axles if they are genuine MBZ, aren't leaking or making noise/vibration. If you remove them only to reboot, put them back on the side they came from.
Good luck!!!

The original Axles were filled with something similar to differential oil. If you boots are cracked all the way through and they are original Mercedes axles they were filled with oil your oil has leaked out and driving them will eventually damage them.
There is at least 3 extensive threads on re-booting the axles. Also you may need more CV joint grease then comes in the grease packets. They worked fine on mine but the Boots started cracking in 5-6 years. I cannot remember exactly. If you remove the Axles be sure to recover the spacers.
