Here's how I did mine. So far it works great and there's never much in the breather tank. Remember, this engine sees mostly full rack, high load operation. I don't know if you can see it well but one hose goes to the cam cover and one down to the oil pan vent.

That engine has a TON of miles and I've never even pulled the head - Stuttgart all the way. Since this pic I've added a Dieselmeken pump and a big ol' turbo and a water-to-air intercooler.

My engine vents to air cleaner central oil separator. The drain on the bottom of the separator is plugged (nowhere for it drain to) I also installed a removable plug at the top. I suck any oil that has collected out when I do an oil change. Some oil no doubt gets sucked into the engine along with vapors. I have very little oil leakage on the valve cover from the vent tube (newer flat type)

I simply ran a line from the valve cover over toward the are the big breather was, installed a hard"T" the line from the valve cover goes in one leg of the "T" and out the other owing down to the sir return to the crank case the other nipple of the "T" has a washable filter on it. T should say the whole set up goes at a slope down toward the return on.
Drove it about 60 miles today, in town and some 70mph highway rolling... Checked it e afterward and had a little blow by around the valve cover cap.... Also had some on the turbo where it connects to the manifold (is there a replaceadlrle seal in thr panel!!!! Going to try and get this cleaned up Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
