Window removal how to

I have to replace the drivers door window on my W123 (1983 300D). I have the replacement window (with the metal bottom strip attached) but I was hoping someone had a how to, or tips on how to get the old glass out of the door and put the new one in. I know how to take off the door panel and regulator, I'm just looking for tips on R & R'ing the glass.

Many thanks in advance,

Glenn

I can give you an outline for the glass removal from a w126 front door. I learned trial and error because I needed to change the rubber which guides the glass.

Remove the panel. Remove the regulator/motor and slide the glass all the way down. Remove the glass/window sweeps. Remove the rear vertical track. This is a bit difficult because the glass has to be pushed forward while the that track is being pushed toward the strike end of the door.

When the glass has cleared the rear track move it backward until it clears the front vertical track. Pull the rubber seal from the bottom of the vertical track and gently work it out of the track. Lay the rubber aside.

The rest is a guess but it seems rotating the glass 90 degrees and lifting it straight up through the slot where the sweeps mount will likely get it out.

I've always found it to be good for this sort of thing.
