OM606 EGR Remove/defeat

I just acquired a 99 E300TD for my wife. i am curious if there is any other way to defeat the EGR without causing a check engine light. i found a "black box" on ebay that tied into 3 wires on the ecu harness, but it's like $138.

on my 92 300d, i just put a plate in between the valve and the manifold and switched the vacuum wastegate actuator to pressure and boom. done.

i did a bit of searching, but i cant really find anything.

there is a simple circuit and resistor setup, but i sent my ECU to rocketchip for a stage 2 tune which deletes the egr as part of the service.

Technically RC doesn't "delete" it, they adjust the duty cycle down to zero. So it's still "active", but the EGR valve now opens 0% of the time. But yes, the end result is what you want i.e. EGR no longer operates.

I have the simple circuit on my '98 E300. The seller of that ebay magic box is making a fortune. The circuit consists of two components - one resistor and one diode. Total cost is less than two dollars. Search the forum to find the thread where it's discussed with photos and circuit diagram.

Edit: here's the thread. two-component solution is a few pages in: got it this time - egr bypass 606 turbo

If you join the superturbodiesel group on facebook there is a guy that remaps ECU's. I just got an ECU from him with a remap for about $400 including shipping from Ireland. It took a while to get but the result is my W210 606 car that feels like or is faster than a 05/06 CDI

Definitely worth the money. He disabled the immobilizer as well so I hopefully won't have the no crank issue these cars have when the ignition switch starts acting up.
