OM617-952 head bolt question
So I'm removing the head from a block in my garage. I don't have the triple square tool- I have a 10mm but it's too small. Anyone have the details of the tool needed to remove these?
Where to buy it? thanks! |

Sorry, you need the triple square. Any parts store has them, Pelican has them, I have one(y'all nearby? Fill out your location!).
You can try a Torx bit, but you'll strip out half of them.

It's called "triple square" as mentioned, but they are also known as "XZN". Don't even think of using the wrong tool here, buy the correct one or you WILL strip them out. Many have been down that path before and learned the hard way.
These are commonly used on euro cylinder heads, axle bolts, and even drain plugs so do yourself a favor and buy a whole set of them. They're readily available anywhere that sells tools. https://store.snapon.com/TRIPLE-SQUARE-BIT-SOCKETS-C795786.aspx https://www.homedepot.com/p/Capri-Tools-XZN-Triple-Square-Bit-Socket-Set-10-Piece-CP30030/206996139 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Capri-Tools-XZN-Triple-Square-Spline-Bit-Socket-Set-Metric-10-Piece/43351523

Thanks folks. I ordered a whole set instead of just the one needed. I have a 10mm but that's not the size I need right now...
I'm currently in south florida. |
