1995 E300 diesel need wiring harness source
Anyone know where I can buy a wiring harness for a 1995 E300 diesel. Glow plug harness. I am interested in the body harness also. I only need the attachment to the glow plugs themselves as I have replaced all the wirers. Can't really find much out there and can't tell if they are the right parts. My project needs help!!!!

I'm looking at my old harness removed about a week ago. It looks like the Mercedes female connector for the glow plug is 025 545 2028 part #. I can't find that on the internet.
One of my six old female connectors broke off and I had to tear it in pieces to remove it from the end of the glow plug. My new harness was made by Delphi last year. This link says the 95 female connector might be unique ' with a clip inside '. Don't know, but no reason not to believe it. Special tool for removing glow plug wire 1995 E300D? |

Did not know about special toll and tore mine apart also. Some lessons are more expensive than others. Looking for a work around.

What do others do when a glow plug wire female connector breaks or comes off?
I've searched a bit to see if the female glow plug connector is available to be ordered. I haven't find one.
Has anyone replaced the glow plug female connector before? If so, where can they be sourced? Seems like this should have happened a lot in the past. |

A 1995 E300 Wiring Harness Saga...
My brother needed a wiring harness for his ‘95 E300. I had a fairly new one in a parts car I own so I GAVE it to him. The plastic plug housing on the end was broken but all the wires were still in their respective holes, so I told him that he could just remove the plastic plug housing from his and use it on the new harness. Easy swap! You’d think anyway. He took the harness to the mechanic (Ford and Chevy hack artist is more like it). The mechanic cut the plug off at the end of the NEW harness and the old harness and figured he could just use butt connectors to join it all together only to find out that the wire colors weren’t very distinguishable on the old harness (dirt, grime, brittle) and once he thought he had the colors figured out he didn’t know which wire went into which hole on the plug. Now there were two wiring harnesses that were no good and the mechanic just shrugged it off and told my brother that he’d done all he could, but he couldn’t fix it for him. I was ticked at the mechanic and a little ticked at my brother. Thankfully my brother was able to find a competent mechanic to sort out the mess and get everything right. Some folks should be kept far far away from working on cars...especially Mercedes-Benz.

jay_bob, thanks for posting the link to the glow plug connector pliers, wonder why it only lists the 642 & 648 engines. If I had these b4, my connector might have come off instead of staying siezed on the glow plug and separating from the harness.
Question for the ones looking at this post.. Does anyone know if there is a silicon or other lube that could be used on the glow plug ends that wouldn't affect the voltage & current to the glow plug? |
