Diesel Geyser

This morning's brain fart was forgetting to tighten the bleed screw on the CDI fuel filter (I had loosened it to relieve pressure when reclamping a fuel hose). So I turned the key and witnessed the diesel equivalent of Old Faithful!

So fuel got all over the engine compartment. Other than wiping things down thoroughly, is there anything of particular importance I need to clean off?

I can't really think of anything. It's going to stink like diesel for a while. A few long drives to dry it out, and it should be fine.

I don't know about that. Diesel really does not evaporate well. I suspect it might take an actual engine cleaning to rid the car of the diesel smell.

Nope, the diesel will sit there for eternity, diesel sat in my engine shock mounts for months.

A gentle dish soap rinse should clear most of it from the engine. The problem will be the porous hood pad if you have one.

I agree a wash with soapy water will take care of it. Ever notice that engine degreaser smells suspiciously just like diesel?
