240D power window

Is there a DIY on the steps to attempt repair on driver side door. I am wanting to fix problem with window motor & actuator.

I'm not a door and window skilled guy. I have a thumping noise in my window when I run it down and up. I am wanting to check it out. I was wondering how to go about it. With the door panel off, and removing the actuator, do you want the window rolled totally down or not? What works well for holding the window, when it is removed from the actuator? Any response would be well accepted.

Not sure on the 123, but on the 126, the window should be down when removing the regulator. Once it is out, gently lower the window down, and it'll sit in the door. When you reinstall the regulator, you'll lift it back up and into the tracks. Be careful, if you get it bound up or not in the tracks, you can break it.
