Alternatives to "No Longer Available" MB Heater Hose Part?
Hi:
I'm trying to replace all of the rubber heater hoses on my 84 300 Turbo Diesel. Found everything except MB part A123 832 8994, which Peachparts reports as no longer available from MB. This is one of the heater return lines on the right hand side of the firewall, one of those "S" shaped hoses about 10" long. In the picture below it's the one on the right-hand side marked with a red "X." Anybody else run into this problem when buying these replacement hoses? If it's NLA and I can't find it anywhere else, can this hose be fabricated, such as by a hydraulic hose shop? Don't know if a regular straight line could be used somehow since I've never not been able to buy replacement hoses. I'd appreciate any ideas that any of you might have on this one. Thanks, Eric |

Remove the hose and take it to the parts store. If NLA, you will be matching it up with something close. Measure the fitting so that you know the diameter and convert to inches before going to the store.

I compiled a list of heater hose part numbers on the link below and it appears those "X"ed out hoses don't have that part number you listed. W123 Coolant and Heater Hoses Part Numbers You might need to recheck the part numbers. .

Just heater hose from a parts store, 5/8 or 3/4, I think. In my old w123 I used it for several years. If it forms a kink, make a longer loop to form the bend, or just use the old hose unless it's cracking or leaking.

if you're sure on the part #, try contacting Mercedes classic center in SoCal.
they have found several parts for me that the dealer claimed NLA, or just couldn't find in their system. talk to Charles, he knows how to find stuff. not the best place as far as answering the phone so you may have to try a few times.

If you have an O'reilly auto parts store, they carry Gates hoses. Gates is about as good as it gets in terms of quality and fit. Ask the parts counter people if they would allow you to go back to where they keep the hoses. Take the hose off your car and that way you can match it up easier while in the store.
If I have a choice, Gates rubber hoses are the ONLY way to go. |

When I searched the part number A123 832 8994 on ebay but without the "A" in the part number there is a ebay seller that said he has 10 of them NEW MERCEDES GENUINE 240E 280CE 280E 300CD 300D 300TD HVAC Heater Hose Present price $14.16 with free shipping.
But that hose is not S shaped. Most parts places don't use the letter in front of the Mercedes part number. The shape of the hose does seem to be a difficult one to match up with some generic hose. On ebay you can also view generic silicon hoses that are in various shapes. Silicon is more flexible and I am guessing is not going to rot with age like the rubber ones.

Oops, I miss read the part numbers. 123 832 8994 is indeed a part number on one of the "x"ed out hoses. One the link I provided, it is marked #3 in the picture. It looks like it is available here. https://www.genuinemercedesparts.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-hose-heat-amp-vent-s-1238328994 You could also call the Classic center. .

Pull the existing hose off and take it to the parts counter at your local store. I've done this many times with custom hoses or projects and have always returned with something that works.

That is a plumbing confusion with the "1 in, 2 out" (or vice-versa) Behr heater core. I haven't replaced those hoses yet, but did on the front side w/ 5/8" silicone hose. I have a kit of silicone hoses for a motorcycle (ebay cheap) with many turns. I used on several cars (PCV, etc), but none fit the M-B. One trick many hot rodders use is to cut a hose and add a metal splice so they can rotate to get the correct elbow angles. This is mainly w/ 1.5" upper radiator hoses (they love the Ford F-150 hose, cheap w/ many bends). Perhaps the same could be done for heater hoses. This is thinking ahead to when these hoses truly are "not avail".
