1983 300SD Speedometer, Odometer, Dash Light not working
Hi,
Just bought a 1983 300sd. My wife was driving it the other day and the speedometer, odometer and dash lights stopped working. She said they were working when she left the house, but they all failed half way through her drive. I did have to disable the steering lock last week, so I was digging around with the instrument cluster out. Checked to see if I plugged something in wrong or failed to plug something in all together, but it's all there. Any ideas? Thanks |

One of two things come to mind:
A dead spot on the dimmer rheostat. or The bulb holder not making good contact with the Instrument Housing. They are notorious for this and sometimes have to be tweaked, or replaced, in order for them to make contact.

Sounds like a fuse or the big plug on the back fell off. Easy to pull out and check.
