Question about parking brake shoes on W126
I replace the parking brake shoe a few weeks ago on the SE that I'd put the 617 engine in. Today I spend a while trying to adjust the brakes according to factory directions with no success.
I pulled the caliper and popped the rotor off to see what I'd done wrong. It was the left side e-brake. The adjustment would expand the space between the shoes if I turn it top to bottom. My assumption was I had the adjuster on backward. I turned it around and now I get a small click, almost a pop when I turn the wheel. It seems to function just as the FSM said it would. Are these adjuster designed to go right and left or are they designed differently. I'm wonder if I may have swapped the sides. I appreciate anyone straightening me out on this.

The adjusters have the same right-hand threads on each side, so it doesn't matter if you mix them up. However, what does make a difference is which end of the adjuster you point upward because that determines if you have to push the screwdriver in upward or downward to tighten or loosen them. I haven't determined the correct orientation of them, but the diagrams always seem to show the toothed wheel up at the top so it's nearest the upper center.
Parking brakes from the W108? to W126 are all pretty much the same. I always struggle with them because it seems like the shoes either drag or pedal goes down too far to engage them.

Thank you,. sir. Being that they are identical it's obvious that I have them oriented backward. I've adjusted them and can't yet tell if it matters.
