transmission oil cooler lines to oil pan question
sorting out the metal oil cooler pipes that run from the transmission to the radiator. (722.3 tranny)
I've changed the rubber grommets that secure the metal lines, but don't know the correct procedure to mount them to the oil pan. is there a nut on the top side to hold the metal clips to the top of the oil pan? I don't think they are supposed to get sandwiched between the oil pan screws and the pan... I'm thinking the clips go on top of the pan and then held down by small nuts. is that correct?

I think a couple of the bolts holding the pan are extra long, should be used in holes along where the lines are? I'm not looking at it now, but I belive these are how it goes back together.

yes, but my issue is that the long bolt doesn't snug the clip for the cooler line.
it holds it in place, but I can easily move it up and down. not sure if that's ok or not. the clips don't have any threads so its basically a loose fit hope that makes sense

checked my setup and there is only one long spacer. approx. 2inches. on the driver side.
is the tranny line supposed to go that low? please share how many spacers should be installed and approx. dimension. and better yet part #s if you've got them. thanks,

I recall there is a spacer at each bolt. The spacer is between the oil tube's clamp and the oil pan (or the upper oil pan) . There are 2 longer bolts where the AC high-pressure hose bracket mounts on top, w/ a nut to secure. The spacers have fairly thick wall, so if you made some by cutting tubing it might be too sharp and cut into the oil pan paint. You might try some nuts from Ace (perhaps long hex nuts) that the bolt will slip thru, or drill out the threads to turn it into a long washer.
BTW, on my cars, I spent a lot of time trying to get at one clamp over the K-frame (to replace plastic isolator) and had to give up. I recall the oil tubes are the same on both my 84 (722.3xx) and 85 CA (722.4xx) cars. I expect you were motivated by the post showing where a missing isolator caused the metal clamp to erode thru the metal tube to cause an oil leak (as was I, thanks to that guy).

Does the passenger side transmission hose get sandwiched where the ac line bracket is held down by 2 nuts?
I have 2 clamps for the tranny oil cooler on each side and I only see one spacer for the oil pan screws and it's on the driver side. Seems that stuff got lost or reworked over the years so I have no idea what the stock setup should be

ive also seen pics of the passenger side clamps being attached perpendicular to the oil pan.
it looks like some vehicles have a notch where a screw can hold the clamp in a sideways fashion. epc has been very little help. surprising since most of the stuff in there is accurate.
