New '84D

So this is the one I brought home a week ago... should have taken the picture then when it was clean ...oh, well. 211k on the odometer... this is the one that had the oil pan skid plate on it.

I give the paint job an 8 (Champagne Metallic #473)... the lady I bought it from did it right... very clean, no scratches, no swirls, no fades, no runs, no orange peel and good clear coat. I found no bondo or rust... anywhere ...and, I looked a plenty (no, there is *no* rust under the battery tray).

*Very* strong engine, tight straight steering... brakes dead straight when you slam on the brakes @ 60mph.

Pinstripe it?

Three's a Charm... if, the wife can avoid the hazards that befell the vehicles below I'm all set!

Cheers

dennis

Oh! it was 3K...

Nice car, great find. A pinstripe that matches the interior color would be great.

It's Palomino... so it probably wouldn't stand out well.

I know there are strong feelings about pinstripes or no pinstripes which I think was a dealer thing... I like the pinstripes.

My Smoke Silver '85TD has Blue and Red pinstripes (Blue Interior).

The smashed Smoke Silver '85D had 2 black pinstripes (Brown Leather interior/ Black Dash).

The newly smashed Orient Red '84D (Palomino/Black Dash interior) has two Gold pinstripes.

The re-painted Champagne Metallic '84D is the original color (Palomino With Black Dash interior)... I haven't seen a paint code #473 with pinstripes.

Thoughts...

Our Orient Red car has tan stick on pin stripes that look to be from the 80's.

I like pin stripes, but stick on?

Nice car - don't pinstripe it if you want to have a Euro-look (!)

Stick on pinstripes are actually pretty good. They are cheap to apply, last for several years
(When applied correctly and when you avoid brush type car washes) and can be removed easily if you change your mind or want something different. I have 3 W123 cars, a coupe (light ivory with Palomino -striped with Palomino), a TD wagon (white with Palomino- striped with Palomino, and a sedan (blue with dark blue- striped with blue).

Yo Army... Nice to see you again! I haven't been around in a while ...and, I haven't been on BezWorld since they did the security/password update. I always enjoyed being online @ 2-3 in the morning as I could almost always count on you to give me (and, everyone else) a hand early in the day!

Rock On!

You're a sick man.

But I'd go with the Orange as well, I think that would pop. We put Chocolate on these when they were new, it did nothing for the car IMO.

For chrrissakes, if you're going to **** the thing up with pinstripes at least use stick on ones so they can be removed in future without effing up the paint.

Never have been able to understand the bizzarre yank fascination with wrecking these things with that crap.
