The IP on the '73 would drip fuel from that vent pipe when the engine was running. Everything under it was wet with fuel, and I was getting a small puddle on the ground after parking and shutting it down.
I rebuilt the pump myself, using parts I got from the ABQ MB dealer, Pelican, and also from the local Bosch injection shop in Albuquerque. See this thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/368673-w115-220d-240d-lift-pump-valve-rebuild-kit.html There's no information in the thread about this particular o-ring. I'll dig out some stuff tomorrow, take some pics, and report back.

OK - I pulled out my spare lift pump and shot some pics and took measurements from the extra push-rod o-ring I still have. I updated the thread I linked to above:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/368673-w115-220d-240d-lift-pump-valve-rebuild-kit.html See post #7. I can't attach the same images to this post because I already used them to update that thread. I tried a couple workarounds to no avail. I don't have the Bosch part number for this o-ring, but here are measurements I got from my spare: - OD = 8.1mm - ID = 4.3mm - Cross-Section = 1.9mm It may be the same o-ring as is used on the later, internally governed pumps. Hope this helps!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Greg. I'll be digging into this this weekend again and I'm sure you saved me some time here. I'll post how it turns out.
