The IP on the '73 would drip fuel from that vent pipe when the engine was running. Everything under it was wet with fuel, and I was getting a small puddle on the ground after parking and shutting it down.

I rebuilt the pump myself, using parts I got from the ABQ MB dealer, Pelican, and also from the local Bosch injection shop in Albuquerque. See this thread:

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/368673-w115-220d-240d-lift-pump-valve-rebuild-kit.html

There's no information in the thread about this particular o-ring. I'll dig out some stuff tomorrow, take some pics, and report back.

OK - I pulled out my spare lift pump and shot some pics and took measurements from the extra push-rod o-ring I still have. I updated the thread I linked to above:

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/368673-w115-220d-240d-lift-pump-valve-rebuild-kit.html

See post #7. I can't attach the same images to this post because I already used them to update that thread. I tried a couple workarounds to no avail.

I don't have the Bosch part number for this o-ring, but here are measurements I got from my spare:

- OD = 8.1mm
- ID = 4.3mm
- Cross-Section = 1.9mm

It may be the same o-ring as is used on the later, internally governed pumps. Hope this helps!

I'll give my usual helpful hint about here - Check out your local Parker Hannifin shop. They have all sorts of stuff including generic O-rings. It's probably a standard size (it's unlikely that Mercedes or Bosch made a special O-ring just for that application). Well worth a look.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Greg. I'll be digging into this this weekend again and I'm sure you saved me some time here. I'll post how it turns out.
