He also suggested that for a 50mm drop the shocks should be shortened. Is this necessary?
I've run the H&R 50mm drop Sport springs 29536, 4 burl pads in the front, 3 burl in the rear for years. I am very happy with my spring setup. IF I were to do it again, I would go with the H&R 30mm drop springs, and adjust it with thinner spring pads to get the same stance. I use Bilstein HD shocks with no issues.

Does this spring setup also work with a wagons hydraulic rear? I need to order new springs anyways and would not mine a little lower stance.

If you have a 300TD or a 280T these:

If you have a 4 cyl diesel or gas:

I lowered my 85' wagon by cutting 1 1/2 coils of the front springs and used the SLS valve to lower the rear. Ride is nice with 225/50R16 tires.

Would you go for the 30mm drop because of the ride quality? Is it a little stiff with 50mm?

Do you have a part number for 30mm springs? The H&R springs on Ebay are a bit confusing because they seem to list all models in the compatible with section. I have written to Tunershop a couple of times but haven't had any response, although today I got someone to email them in German so that may work.

Also, would you happen to have any shots of the wagon with the springs on?

Looking forward to these. Also ordered my spring compressor yesterday. Found a wagon that I'm really liking the looks of and am going to kind of copy.

OK, new HR springs arrived tonight. Now I'll need some replacement burl pads for them. Any ideas of which I should be leaning toward. MBZ300cd said he has 4 burl pads in the front, 3 burl in the rear on his coupe, but he has 50mm drop HR's I believe mine are 30mm drop.

I'm thinking 4 burl front and back. I'll be running the stock bunts for some time. In future I'm leaning toward 16x8 et11 pentas. maybe next year...

Ran across this wagon, really like the look of it.

I've secretly always wanted a wagon, so I bought a 1981 300TD W123 - Page 9 - StanceWorks

Ordered some spring pads from here today.

Coil Spring Pad - (2 Burrs - 14 mm, Rear Left or Right)
**Brand: Meyle Note: 14mm (1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Base Wagon)
**Part #: 115-325-23-44-MY-INT
$7.50

$15.00
Coil Spring Pad
**Brand: Meyle , 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon
**Part #: 115-325-24-44-MY-INT

Seems to be only ones Peach had to offer as to burr count. I guess I will use them and see where the car sits. Since my spring are not as much of a drop as the springs on the coupe maybe it will work out fine?

I wondered what car the OP was referring to (as my settings here on PP delete the user sigs; I can't see them- quite a few other members also have this same setting) and he mentioned 300d- which could be the w123 or w124. You however said e300- which is normally specific to the w210; is there 94'/95' w124 diesel also called e300? I forgot if it is..

Damn. I had (I thought) everything ready to go, took out front spring and realized I somehow got 4 rear spring shims. Have ordered a pair 123-321-15-84-MBZ. guess I'll just leave car up on stands till they get here. I can do the rears at least.

Worked on rear. Only got 1 sided done cause I fought with the front sub frame bolt for 2 hours. I finally was able to get it to catch buy filling socket with pennies and using a second jack to put pressure on the bolt. You can see the difference in the old and new springs. Both have 3 nub shims. the spacers have been in the springs since I bought the car and have over 100K on them from me. will be nice to finally get rid of them.

Edit, Here is the back of the car with the HR springs in. 3 nubs. The car is sitting on the springs as the Hydraulic shocks have not been filled. Looks to be a nice ride height. Tempted to try the 2005 CLK rims I have on the 87 in there. I should note that I have replaced the main sub frame to body bushings as well, last year or so.
