3 bedroom on over an acre for $89k? You couldn't buy half an acre around here for that kind of money unless it was completely unbuildable.
And you live in an expensive part of Mass. You'd have to get out past Ashby to get away from the crazy prices.

For those $$, in 1980, you could buy a house in the neighborhood where I lived. Don
For those dollars in 1980, you could have bought 1/2 home in the home my parents built where I grew up.

Where I live today, you can still buy that price under $100K home in 2016.

It's all about location, quality, size and lastly..... the when......

Yep D/FW has crazy low $/ft2

I had in 2003 a 3780 ft2 for $196k, $51/ft2, in Mansfield (SE Tarrant Co).
But it was built like a cardboard box and monkeys could have done a better job wiring it. Looked pretty on the inside, lots of fancy molding work and fairly high end kitchen, but what a joke otherwise.

The craziest thing was my escrow payment was higher than my P&I. Property tax was $6k/yr and insurance about $3k/yr.

This was in Portland, OR where we bought a home for $40,000 in 1980, but we looked at homes in the area for as little as 24,000. Don
