question about sealant

getting ready to reseal my ps pump and rebuild my vacuum pump.

question: what is the appropriate sealant/gasket maker to use on the rim of the PS front seal?

&

what would be the correct sealant to use on the vacuum pump to block? I have ordered the oem gasket, but most DIY links about the vacuum pump recommend also using a sealant in addition to the gasket... is this correct?

would be great to use one product for both applications.

Ditto for vacuum pump. I used the factory gasket, coated both sides w/ "gasket sealant". It is purple goo that stays soft and dissolves in ethanol for cleanup. Might be similar to butyl rubber. It will make scraping the gasket "next time" much easier. Never rebuilt the p.s. pump.
