A/C compressor belt lose
I found my A/C compressor belt a bit lose.
How can I tighten it up? Which bolt(s) for adjustment? Thank you. David ___________________ 1985 300D Turbo |

300SD 1984 (should be similar)
Three 19 mm. bolts on the rear of the alloy compressor mount that secure the compressor... loosen them slightly from below. Go topside. One 10mm. locknut below A/C hoses on the alloy compressor mount towards driver side fender well. Long bolt protruding thru nut helps identify it. You need deepwell 10mm socket (because of long bolt) if you can get by the hoses that join at the compressor manifold. Open end 10mm from the front if you can't. Clockwise on the nut tightens the belt. It's a short belt so not much deflection should be there, but not so tight as to stress the clutch/pulley bearing. Tighten up what you loosened below.

My friend helped me to tighten up the belt this afternoon, using your instructions. Thanks again David _____________________ 1985 300D Turbo |
