OM616: Getting Intermediate Gear Shaft serviced -what else should be done? -
My vacuum pump housing broke apart recently and I traced the issue back to excessive play in the intermediate gear shaft (visible when you remove the vacuum pump).
I'm taking the car into the mechanic tomorrow and to do the job he'll have to pull out the radiator, fan, injection timing device, helical gear shaft, and the injection pump (according to FSM 05-412 at least). So while he's in there what are some other things that I should have him inspect/replace while this stuff is off the engine? Here's what I'm thinking so far:
anything else you guys suggest?

Yup...yikes indeed. He's estimating about 16hrs of labor for the whole job. So I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck while he's taking that stuff apart.

I'd be REALLY interested to hear experienced thoughts on this one. Sounds like a prime opportunity to inspect or service any seals/ parts etc. that would normally be hard to get to.
