Transmission Going bad or B2?
I have a 1984 300d California model.
I was leaking and ran very low on transmission fluid from bad hose. The car was run for a while after the fluid ran low. Now I have a serious flare from 2nd to 3rd (guess it could be 1st to 2nd) that happens all the time. From my research, it seems I should first try replacing the b2 piston. Anything else I should do? Thanks in advance. |

I don't know if yours is different but on my 83 I took care of some of the transmission flaring issues by replacing the K1 springs.

What does "flaring" mean?

A transmission is said to "flare" when the shift is slow and during the shift the revs increase noticably before dropping sluggishly to the next gear.

Ran low on fluid....on a transmission with how many miles under its belt....not good....worse then running one with to much fluid....sure there's a lot of stuff that has been effected inside the trans...I would say rebuild the whole thing....and then see where your at...

I would go through the VCV adjustment process to determine whether compensation could be made. Does it shift well manually?
