I am having a hard time understanding what the big deal is with swedging the tube on a 123 LCA bushing. I have done several, and it was easy. If this is the only thing keeping someone from using 123 bushings and using 126 bushings instead, then they probably should not be working on the suspension in the first place! (maybe only a little serious here ). I have yet to try 126 bushings, as it seems the chance of ruining them is great. If you find an easy way and post photos of the process, I may try one next time. I don't mind learning from other peoples mistakes....Rich

Glad to help!

Yeah, the 123 bushings are cake to install in comparison, but the 126 bushings look like they will seriously improve the suspension, and they are waaaay better designed.

What don't I get? How are the 123 bushes cake? If you don't bend the w126 ones, there's no swaging or bending. Isn't that the point?

Sorry for being dense.

Swageing is pretty simple with a vise and a 14mm socket. Sliding the 123 pucs in place and swageing the tube in isn't very difficult.

Or you can use a lug bolt from a BMW (cone, not ball seat like a Benz).

Im conflicted since I am putting 15" bundts on my 300CD...

But I had high hopes the w126 parts would just "drop" in, lol...

You don't have to own a Beemer, just one lug bolt. I have never owned a BMW, and don't plan to. I have aftermarket wheels on my 'Benz that use the conical seated bolts, rather than the ball seat like all factory MB wheels use.

Oh yeah and a one series.

I hear good things about those little ones - funny most manufacturers can either do big or little but rarely do both well.

Any updates on this?

I'm sort of considering a DIY on my 300cd rather than going to a shop. Then I can take time, apply rustproofing oil, paint the CAs, etc.

What updates are you waiting for?

Some of us say the W123 flanging is simple - some seem to panic at the thought of it.

We all know the W126 bushing is considered to be an upgrade (even by Mercedes).

- Ya pays ya money - ya takes ya chance!

I'm neither panicked or anything else. I have the ability to flare the tube, but I am upgrading my 300cd to 15" bundts...

I'm Norton the forum very often, it strikes me... May be wrong... That there isn't a "confirmation" that these bushes actually work as a drop-in.

Has anyone actually put these into service in a w123 and gotten years and lots of miles out of them yet??
