Advanced now has access to WorldPac catalog.

Or so I was just told. Waiting to call back since the manager is the only who knows how to use it yet.

I've never used either of these sites or Advanced Auto for other than spark plugs. I wonder how long it'll take the guys up by me to get trained. This will be much of use..

Based on comments from my local indy supplier recently, the new WorldPac catalogue isn't easy or intutitive to use - at least in Canada.

It may be a while before routine use of it reaches the front counters....

It was a lie. AA manager told me he still has to go through a third part ! to buy parts from his own company. Gotta love that corporate life.

Still wouldn't make me want to walk in there.

"Hi, do you have a tire plug kit"
"Can I know the make and year of the vehicle?"

"Hi, do you carry fuel filter part number FRAM xxxxx?"
"Can you tell me the make and year of the vehicle?"

"How much for a gallon of Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 15w40?"
"I'll need the year and model of the car its for sir."

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Awww, come on now... isn't it worth it, when the teenager behind the counter looks up with a vacant expression when you say....

"Mercedes"

And then gives you a pleading, uncomprehending look like some trapped animal when you say....

"1985"

It makes MY day (x2 if I get to say DIESEL too).

Or, in the words of fellow Canuck lister Clacker, "It's probably the first time the kid has realized there is actually something on the list, between Lincoln and Merkur...."

I had just that experience recently. I didn't realize the turbo and non-turbo W123 air filters would be slightly different sizes hence my spare didn't fit, and I wanted to change it out, so I gave the local parts chain a try.

Parts guy - "Hi, how can I help you?"

Me - "I need your help looking up an air filter"

Parts guy - "OK, I'm sure I can help with that" "Make?"

Me - "Mercedes"

Parts guy - "Oh. Year?"

Me - "85"

Parts guy - "Oh. Model?"

Me - "300D"

Parts guy - *typing, scanning screen, typing*

Me -

Parts guy - *typing, scanning screen, typing* "I think we have one! It says it's In the Back"

I'm not sure who was more surprised.

And it was a Wix!
