There is no circuit board on the IP.

Take the IP to Bosch.

They checked the compression, timing, fuel injection timing, timing belt slack, fuel pressure, and fuel injectors. All fine.

The dealer rep said that there was a circuit board in the pump and it is bad since the fuel was not being delivered to two of the cylinders that were next to each other.

The dealer quoted me a price of $2000 just to replace the pump. I declined and am picking the vehicle up today. Any insights would be appreciated. I do not have $2000.

Thanks.

That was a mistake taking it to the dealer. What did he charge you for 9 hours of diagnostic? If the car ran well before the head job, the IP does not just suddenly go bad. They just want to milk you. There was a forum member with low power, starting and stalling problem on his 84 Euro wagon who was also diagnosed with a bad IP by a shop to the tune of $2000 to replace. I fixed it for him by replacing his fuel line under the car which had a pinhole leak.

I am inclined to think either cam timing issue or ip timing issue. Timing belt slack? Somebody is blowing smoke.

Do check the fuel lines, look up images online to compare.
I refitted an injection pump to a Bmw 525tds (m51 engine) years ago and got two injector lines mixed up and as TMAllison quoted above it will run but wont make power

The misfire code in this case would be generated because the ecu is picking up the signal from crankshaft sensor deviating to much.
