Rebuilding central door lock vacuum pump
There seems to be almost no mention on the interwebs on rebuilding central door lock vacuum pumps e.g. part# 1268000448 (found in the trunk next to spare tire). At + - $250 new a pop, one would expect to see more interest in this.
Can it be done?

I have not read of anyone rebuilding one.
Used ones come up on ebay or you could pull one at the Junk Yard. If you like to mdify stuff there is lots of Ford Vacuum Pumps that are used to operate the accessories and other Vacuum Pumps (more noise) used for Brake Booster Vacuum usally shown on ebay as comming of of SAAB or Volvos. I suspect that the real Mercedes Vacuum Pump has a Vacuum shutoff Switch on it for when the Vacuum is high. For sure some of the other Vacuum Pumps do not have that switch built into them.

I think that that's it - second hand ones seem to be cheap. However, that might not always be the case - be a pioneer - be the first to do a DIY!
