I could, but I would have to remember all the forums I joined and troll them on a regular basis. Not likely to be succcessful for me ... I'm not organized enough or disciplined ...

I wonder if something like this could be an easy build...

And for the budget conscious, this might work...

Cool site !

Fine line between safety and /or time involved to make something versus simply hiring the job out ... I called the blaster guy today who linked me up to some "real" restoration places 60 minutes or less from me. Apparently, I can avoid the dives, wanna-bees, bubbas who have a paint booth in their backyards, et cet., and most likely get the undercarriage done to my tastes for about the same $$ as buying the TN made contraption and the beauty is I only have to drive or call AAA to have my car towed there and then back home.

I would be a little terrified to build something and trust it to roll my car over in my garage ... LOL.

If you saw the roll cage we just built for my buddy's Avanti you would know that making a tilter would be relatively easy! The hard part would be having a bender that would get the radaii equal on the main hoops. Roll cage tubing (1 5/8", .120" wall minimum) would be more than adequate (you KNOW that I could get the tube cheaply). You could get your machinist buddy to carve out some wheel plates. But I agree that this might be a job better farmed out.

Accessible Systems Auto Tilter - Joel -Awesome Piece!

Guys,

2 Years ago I called Joel, and after a few conversations I had him build me the HD version of his Tilter (Not shown on his site), so as to be able to handle a 6000 pound load (Full-Size Ford 3/4 Ton Pickup).

He mentioned that he build some HD versions for Ford Motor a while back, and he could build me one as well. I decided to go with it as I wanted the extra capacity. (Glad I did, as it's awesome!)

I bought the device from Joel with 5-lug plates and 8-lug plates, and used my own Cherry Picker to do the lifting.

The project I was working on at the time was my 1991 Audi V-8 Quattro 5-Speed.

The HD unit, shipped to my door (NJ at the time) from TN was, if I remember correctly, $1300.00

I am VERY happy with the unit, and it is better than I expected! Once the vehicle is tilted into position, I was surprised at how stable this setup is. It made working on the underside of the car a real breeze. I removed the complete exhaust (front to back) in one piece by hanging it balanced in the middle with my cherry picker.

I really cannot say enough good about Joel's level of service. There was a minor issue upon receipt, and Joel was very quick to correct it, all at no extra cost to me. He is a true gentleman, with a fine product offering. I may very well be calling him in the future to purchase one of his full-blown rotisseries!

Tilter ... More Pics!

Questions Welcomed

You may have noticed that one of these vehicles is an auto trans. That was a parts car. The one with the shiny engine is my Factory Original (less than 100 imported) 5-speed V-8 Quattro!

Does anyone have an owner's manual for the Liqui vehicle tilter and can post the manual on the website or email me a copy?
