w123 205-70-r14 or 215-70-r14 fitment for new tires

I was having a lot of tire wear problems that I have completely corrected now with all new front end parts and an alignment. I went from Cheap 195's that were chewed through by really bad ball joints on a trip and then I got these hankook 175's and chewed through one really bad before I got everything corrected. I hate the way they look and handle! It's a damn bike tire so I'm now ready for some long term tires and would like something a bit wider. I have herd a few people run 205's with no problems like rubbing on tie rods, or fenders. Is that correct? And what about 215's? I don't want to run different tires front and rear because I can't rotate them. I was just curious if anyone had experience or knowledge with running wider tires on the stock 14 in bundts? Thanks

205-70-14 works fine, lots of people run that size. I cannot speak to 215s.

Anything 175 is way too narrow for a summer tire on a car the size and weight of a w123.

Imo, having put 205 r something on 15 inch ronals... for stock look and feel 14 " 195 in the Michelin flavor is what I would go for. Those tires will be plenty for your w123. Looks aside.

When we bought the 85 300D it had 195/70/14 tires. The way it handled, it felt sort of mushy, plus it needed tires. I up graded to 205/70/14 and it was a totally different handling car.

The 205`s will fit right on the Bundt Wheels w/o any rubbing.

195/75/14 on our 240D feel ok and don`t give me the mushy feel. it a lighter car with the 4 cyl eng, 4-spd, and no Sun Roof compared to the 300D.

I agree. I had 205s on my W123 wagon for awhile. The 195s are the best. It doesn't handle as sportily as my W210 wagon. Nor should it.

I have 195/70R14 on my W123 sedan. Had 205/70R14s on my old W123 sedan (w/ Bundts) and personally liked them a lot better than the 195s for comfort and handling. The speedo was more accurate with the 205s as well.

I now have 6.5" steelies and a rebuilt KKK turbo, so have enough power to not worry about tire size. I'm due for new tires and wondering how the 225/70R14s were for you as far as fitment and rubbing versus the 205s.
