W123 Diesel Banjo fitting sizes?
I'm putting the canister fuel filter housing from a 300D that I parted out onto a Lombardini diesel that I'm putting together. I didn't save the fuel lines though. I measured the two banjo bolts at 14mm and 12mm - and the third one on top I don't even have the banjo bolt for, but it looks to be about 10mm. Does anyone know off-hand what size Mercedes used for those banjo fittings? If not is my method of measuring the shank of the banjo bolt correct?
Thanks, Tad

Would you be able to point out which bolt you're referring to?

Sure, I've labelled the missing bolt and fitting in blue and the two bolts that I have where I'm missing the fittings in green.
Thanks, Tad

The blue bolt is part # N915011-006104, same as the one you have marked 12mm. The seal ring for both is part # N007603-012111, 12x16x1 or there a-bouts, I have different size for that also, 12x15x1.5mm.
The fitting is not listed separately, but the line that attaches to it and the IP is part #615 070 56 32. The bolt you have as 14mm uses seal ring # N007603-014405. The two green marked bolts screw into the fuel filter head, so no fitting, really.

Ok, thanks. I've attached photos of my block. For some reason the bolts looked to be different sizes, but the small one (12mm) does thread into the top bleed hole as well as the output hole.
Looks like two of the 12mm x 1.25 kits I found below, and one for 12mm will get my project back on track. Then again that is $24 + the price of the filter and I may be able to just find a housing/filter with hose barbs for that price. Thanks for the help! -Tad

What you have pictured, the new stuff, doesn't look like it'll work.
See attachments. That item is a three way affair.

Yea, I remember that from the car. The three way affair isn't really necessary for my setup. It is nice that it has the bleed hole for filter housing, which is why I don't think I'll just plug it. I can tee the hose from that into my fuel return line, which can run to the tank. I could use a two-way banjo so that I could run my return from the engine to it, and then use the other port to connect to the tank.
It does make me wish I'd snagged a set of lines the last time I was in a junkyard. Thanks again, Tad

Not sure what you mean by bleed hole, but on an MB engine, you would need the three way fitting. One goes to the injectors, one to the side of the IP, the one you don't need, I guess, the last one to the tank return.

On this Mercedes filter housing the reason that the three return lines tee together at this banjo fitting is that inside the housing is a hole that allows this filter to bleed air back into the tank via the return line. The bleed hole is in the outer portion of the filter housing, where the fuel enters the filter (vs the center of the filter where it flows out to the injection pump).
That three way could certainly be used with one blocked port, if I had one. -Tad
