anything with gutter clamps will work essentially.

yakima and thule will give you an excellent product for a lofty price, look for gutter towers on ebay, craigslist, ect for those models.

there are cheaper options though-

lots of these will work-

We got a set of proline racks and fitted it with a Curt Black Widow safari basket.

It's not chrome and wood, and the little end caps popped off of the crossbars on the first drive, but it looks pretty good IMO.

It's also less expensive and more versitile than the chrome and wood one which you can get (at least fitted for the VW) here:

I have a used Thule gutter mount rack with peeled paint on the feets. Looks ugly but fully functional. A little sanding and paint will make it look good. $50 + shipping.

I got a new Taiwanese stainless steel with wood slat roof rack for less than $200 on eBay, but the seller went out of stock a few years back. I stained and varnished the wood myself.

It came in really handy when I had to move from Washington to Arizona:

The rack slides backward on the roof due to an inferior clamp design, so I will probably modify it with a different clamp style.

Yeah, it's an aluminum W116 hood. All of the stuff made it the entire trip without falling off, though the roof rack had a tendency to slide and needed constant readjusting.
